Pride Repro Roundup #6 (June/July)

July 16, 2025

Pride began as a protest.

In 1969, trans women like Marsha “Pay It No Mind” Johnson and Sylvia Rivera led an uprising against police violence and systemic discrimination. Their resistance laid the foundation for the modern LGBTQIA+ movement.

Today, Pro-Choice Washington is proud to continue that legacy and use our voice when community members are being marginalized.

When we come together in love and protest, we can build a movement that is more visible, compassionate, and powerful.

Across the country, LGBTQIA+ communities, people seeking reproductive and gender-affirming care, and immigrant families are facing unprecedented threats to their safety and well being.

Self-managed abortions are one of the most powerful tools patients have to maintain bodily autonomy. Whether you’re seeking care for yourself or supporting someone else, it’s critical to know your options.

Trans liberation and reproductive freedom are part of the same fight. Bodily autonomy means the ability to make decisions about our own lives, our own care, and our own futures.

In a moment when right-wing forces are trying to erase us, our joy, our survival, and our resistance are acts of defiance.

Let’s keep showing up for each other, for our futures, and for our freedom.

Learn About the Consequences of Abortion Bams

When Texas banned abortions, more women bled to death during miscarriages. It’s a chilling reality for many patients.

Published by Pro-Publica, this reporting reviews data to look at the evidence how abortion bans like this have the most serious public health consequences.

Listen to Interview with Trans Advocate

Earlier this month, Gender Justice League Executive Director Danni Askini spoke with KUOW about the growing threats to trans people’s safety in Washington and beyond.

Danni leads Washington Families for Freedom, an organization of parents, teachers, youth, organizers, and advocates (including Pro-Choice Washington) fighting to defeat dangerous anti-trans legislation in our state. Learn more or get involved today.

Learn About Self Managed Abortions

June marked the third anniversary of the Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade and triggered a public health crisis across the country.

Learn more about how to safely self-manage an abortion and what to expect when using medication abortion.

Resource for Trans People in Red States

Traction PNW Project Open Arms helps trans and gender-diverse people relocate from restrictive red states to supportive communities in Western Washington and beyond.

Self-Managed Abortion

Self-managed abortion is a reality for many people. With the changing legal landscape for abortion in many states, self-managing your care is often the only option available.

Reflecting on Three Years Since Dobbs: We Stand Together, We Mourn, We Resist

Three years ago today, the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) issued its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, overturning nearly fifty years of constitutional protections for abortion access under Roe v. Wade.
